ABSTRACT

On March 13 to 15, 2003, invited by the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health, some 500 experts from Europe and the United States have met in Lucerne at the Culture and Convention Center to attend the 3rd European Conference “Stay in Touch” on youth work, youth care and drug prevention. Also, a delegation of 40 young Europeans have organised their own partly parallel, partly integrated Conference. Again, as in Munster in 1996 and Maastricht in 1999, the objective was to further an exchange of ideas and experience between experts in the related fields of youth work, youth care and prevention. The main purpose of these encounters was to define the empirically tested approaches most likely to help prevent the emergence of drug problems with young people.
