ENVIRONMENTAL PREVENTION |
|
|
Environmental prevention policies and interventions seek to change the conditions within a community addressing those physical, social or cultural factors that might lead to substance use and related risk behaviours. Environmental strategies are most effective when implemented as part of a comprehensive approach including communication and information, oriented to raise awareness and create community support for prevention; education, skill and competence-based approaches focusing on learning new behaviours; as well as policy and enforcement methods oriented to limit opportunities for unhealthy or risky behaviour or promote the availability of healthier options in order to prevent problems associated with substance use. IREFREA through the work developed in the various projects and community platforms in which participates is committed to the development and evaluation of strategies seeking to varying the environment in ways that can influence behaviour complementing the approaches that seek to increase competences and skills.
